Trump to take the stage with rumored new running mate

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem is smack dab in the center of swirling rumors that she will be former President Trump’s pick for a running mate in 2024 and she says she’d accept the offer “in a heartbeat.”

She made the comment on Thursday during an interview on Newsmax.

“Oh, absolutely,” Noem stated when she was asked whether she would consider being Trump’s vice president. “I would in a heartbeat.”

“Just because you respect the position and the person who asks you to do something and then see if you really believe that you could make a difference,” she clarified.

Trump will take the stage Friday at a rally billed as a fundraiser for the South Dakota GOP and Noem will join him where she will reportedly endorse his nomination for president in 2024. Just the mere mention of that inevitability has kicked the rumor mill into overdrive about her joining his ticket. She is a long-time Trump supporter.

During the Newsmax interview, Noem did not shy away from the possibility of being Trump’s running mate despite the Left’s witch hunt against the former president.

“Trump needs a strong partner if he’s going to take back the White House,” she asserted. “And he’s going to need somebody who knows what it’s like to run a business, to be an employee, earn a paycheck, but also having a wife, mom, and grandma isn’t bad either.”

The two-term South Dakota governor is very high-profile in the Republican Party. She is a strong conservative leader and is seen by many as an excellent choice for vice president.

Trump is far and away the leader for the GOP nomination, leading his nearest competitor Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the polls by at least 27 points currently.

“We have not discussed it at all,” Noem stated on Thursday during an appearance on “Fox and Friends” in reference to Trump speaking with her about the ticket.

Noem was asked on Fox News Digital Thursday if appearing with Trump should be seen as a potential dry-run for being his running mate.

She answered, “I don’t think so.”

But she’s not ruling it out either.

“Yeah. I’d have to consider it,” the governor admitted. “I think everybody would have to consider it if they were asked that question. It’s such an important time in our history where we see constitutional freedoms being undermined by leaders across this country almost every day.”

“We all should step up to make sure we’re doing all that we can to keep our freedoms, our values, America the way that it’s always been in place,” Noem added.

“I do feel pretty confident that President Trump will be the Republican nominee for president,” she went on to tell Fox News Digital. “He obviously has a record that he’s running on and people know with him what they’re getting. I think these other candidates that are in may be good people, but their record isn’t just as impressive.”

Noem noted that the other Republican presidential contenders were all invited to the South Dakota GOP gala, but that “all of them had somewhere else they needed to be or had different priorities or said they were only going to focus on Iowa and New Hampshire. That’s really what I think is impressive about President Trump is that everybody matters to him.”

“I’ve talked openly that he’s the candidate that I’m supporting. So tomorrow we’ll have some conversations at the rally that I think everybody will be interested in,” she continued. “Of course, he’s absolutely the best choice for us. I don’t know of any other candidate that’s running for president right now that fought when it mattered.”
