Striker linked with Tottenham Hotspur tipped to become a ‘superstar’ in two years

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Evan Ferguson, and Alan Shearer’s latest comments on the Brighton and Hove Albion striker are surely going to encourage the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faithful

Alan Shearer has written in The Athletic that Evan Ferguson, who is on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur, could become a superstar in two years’ time.

Tottenham Hotspur-linked Evan Ferguson tipped for stardom

The former Newcastle United striker has noted that Ferguson has no weaknesses in him as a striker.

Shearer, one of the greatest strikers to have ever played in the Premier League, has raved about the 18-year-old.

TEAMtalk reported in August 2023 that Tottenham had enquired about a potential deal for the striker.

The Seagulls, though, did not want to sell the 18-year-old Republic of Ireland international, according to the report.

Spurs have reportedly identified Ferguson as a potential long-term replacement for Harry Kane.

England international Kane left Tottenham for Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.

Shearer wrote about Ferguson: “Left foot, right foot, headers, pace, aggression, intuition; there is no obvious weakness to his game, which is only going to get better and better. He has the lot.

“I’d never seek to pile pressure onto a young player’s shoulders, but then you watch Ferguson play and can’t help yourself.

“At his age, all manner of things could happen to alter the pathway of his life and career and I’ve never met Evan, so can’t judge his mentality or attitude, but I’ve studied his performances and he has the potential to be massive.

“We’re talking about a very special talent, someone who could be a superstar within a couple of years. What do I love about him? Everything.”

Tottenham Hotspur should continue to monitor Evan Ferguson

In our view, Tottenham Hotspur should continue to keep tabs on Evan Ferguson in the coming weeks and months.

Ferguson is one of the best teenage footballers around, and high praise from Shearer underlines just how good he is and how highly is rated in the footballing community.

Of course, we must not forget that the Republic of Ireland international is only 18 now.

We should not overhype the striker or pile too much pressure on him.

Let us allow Ferguson to grow and develop at his own pace.

Ferguson has made 24 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The striker has scored 10 goals and given two assists in those games.
