Romano claims Arsenal youngster with ‘champion mentality’ is leaving

Arsenal are set to offload midfielder Tim Akinola with Qatari side Al Bidda SC allegedly poised to announce his arrival.

Tim Akinola is on the verge of leaving Arsenal after the Gunners have the green light to his departure.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports that Arsenal have decided to allow Akinola to leave the club.

Romano claims that Al Bidda SC will be Akinola’s new club and he will be unveiled as a permanent signing very soon.

Akinola has agreed a three-year deal with Al Bidda as he brings his time at Arsenal to an end.

Who is Arsenal midfielder Tim Akinola?

Akinola hails from Nigeria but his football career has been based completely in England.

After starting out with Lincoln City, Akinola moved on to Huddersfield Town and then Arsenal in 2020.

Akinola was never able to make a first-team appearance for Arsenal but did spend time out on loan at Dundee United and Chesterfield.

Now 22, Akinola needs to leave Arsenal in order to play regular first team and Al Bidda are seemingly offering that chance.

Arsenal’s former head of emerging talent Yousuf Sajjad told Football London in 2021 that he feels Akinola has a ‘champion mentality’.

Akinola will now head to the Middle East and will be looking to really kick on after leaving Arsenal.

Al Bidda will be looking to land promotion to the Qatar Stars League and will now be relying on Akinola to make a big impact.
