Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 9 Review: When The Dead Come Alive

After a small break, Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 9 is back with a bang in an episode that brings back a bunch of fun characters into the fray. Let’s see how it went in this review!

Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 9 Overview

Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 9 Title

What is there to be said about Bleach that hasn’t been said before? It is one of the most popular anime in the West of Japan of all time and is considered a part of the Big Three, a trio of anime widely recognised as having been a part of popularising the medium of anime. The show is back after a hiatus of nine years, as its first run ended in 2013. The newest season of the show is being developed by Studio Pierrot, the studio behind the original series, as well as other giants such as Naruto and Tokyo Ghoul.

The second part of the final arc of Bleach is directed by Tomohisa Taguchi, who has been involved in the productions of Persona 4 The Animation and Twin Star Exorcists, and the series is based on a manga written by Tite Kubo. This episode is also referred to in original Japanese as Bleach Sennen Kessen-hen Ketsubetsu-tan Episode 9 (Bleach Sennen Kessen hen Ketsubetsu tan Episode 9) and Bleach TYBW Part 2 Episode 9. Rukia renji Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 9

This was an episode for the little guys. It was time for some minor characters to shine as most of the major ones found themselves occupied with one thing or the other. With a show like Bleach, which has an untouchably large cast that it has carefully cultivated over decades of manga and anime, episodes like this one make for a very refreshing change of pace, especially because among all the characters featured today, you can probably find one character who you actually adore and think could be a bigger deal than they are.

We begin with the aftermath of Uryu’s betrayal, and I don’t really know what I was expecting. Sure, Orihime and Chad came out of absolutely nowhere, and it doesn’t make much sense for them to be able to do that. On the other hand, this scene loses a lot of weight if the two of them aren’t there, so I don’t mind it too much. The reaction Ichigo, Orihime, and Chad had at the end of it for their characters to a tee, and even if you haven’t seen the episode, you will be able to come up with something close enough in your mind.

Then comes the real meat of the episode: Quincy Gigi and her showdown against anybody from Soul Society she can find. She is an entertaining character not because of her personality but because of the type of storytelling her existence allows in the show. Not only do her powers allow for bringing dead people to life and thus giving popular characters another go-around in front of their fans, but give her the longevity that has been missing from most other Quincies we have seen on our screens.

In my opinion, the star of this episode is also the most underrated character in Bleach. Mayuri Kurotsuchi is perhaps the most fun deranged character in the show, and his antics, combined with his cocky and arrogant personality, make for wonderful interactions with the variety of characters we have in the show, especially the ones who take themselves too seriously. It helps that he can also be a formidable opponent to anyone in the show because his powers have also been displayed since the show started, alongside his brains.

The other character known to be smart in the show, Kisuke, also played a fantastic part in Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 9, combining the plots featuring Ichigo and the rest of the Soul Society coherently and logically. We also had the return of Yoruichi, alongside a bunch of Arrancars whom I can name, but you don’t care about them enough for me to. It was absolutely hilarious to have them involved in this episode alongside evergreen characters like Ikkaku and Yumichika. There was also a fantastic end-of-episode stinger in this episode!

Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 9 was an extremely fun episode that put the spotlight on a few lesser-used characters, which they then hit out of the park.
